Welcome to the
Leatherhead & District Local History Society
(covering Ashtead, the Bookhams, Fetcham and district as well as Leatherhead)

The Society was formed in 1946 for everyone interested in the history of the area. This year sees the 70th Birthday of the Society.

We meet at the Letherhead Institute at the top of Leatherhead High Street on the 3rd Friday of September to May, for lectures on local history topics.

These start at 8pm with coffee served from 7.30pm and are open to all, admission 2.

We also arrange visits for members to places of interest during the summer.

Some members of the Society are willing to give talks to other local organisations and groups.

We have very extensive archives of articles, maps and photographs of the area and a library of local history for use by members. Work continues to add to our on-line Archives.  We maintain the Leatherhead Museum of Local History - see on right

Our publications include an annual Proceedings of the Society with articles by members; a quarterly Newsletter; and various books on the history of Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham, Fetcham and Headley.

Ordinary Membership of the Society costs 20 per annum - see the Membership link for the benefits and types of membership.
