Two bronze figures of soldiers, leaning on rifles, about
21ins tall, were stolen
from this memorial in April 1997.
It is hoped to find an image of the memorial before that date,
in the hope that if they still exist, someone may recognise them.

was originally published by His Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) in
1921. It covered deaths within the period from 4th August 1914 (the
declaration of war) to 11th November 1918 (Armistice Day) and, in some
but not all cases, up to 25th March 1921. It lists the names of 661,960

BEESON, JACK - local sources recall that Jack's father was the Bailiff for Headley Park. They lived at Park Corner, Tilley Lane, Headley.
COLLINS, WILLIAM
CWGC: None of the initial W Collins or Collins with first name William
appear to have a Headley connection.
SDGW: None of the W Collins have a stated Headley connection.

HUMBLE, RICHARD
The Times, Friday, Oct 6, 1944: DEATHS
HUMBLE - Previously reported missing, now reported killed
in action in Normandy, July, 1944, RICHARD HUMBLE (DICK), Lieutenant,
Scots Guards, dearly loved and only son of Captain and Mrs Richard Humble,
Tunbarr, Headley, Surrey, and brother of Elizabeth.
His sister, Dr Elizabeth Hallifax, now lives in Ashtead. Local sources recall that Richard's father was a very early aviator, flying from London to Cape Town. John Hills recalls being in the church choir when Richard visited and that he remembers his bubbly personality.
