Eastwick Junior School

Mr. R.  Damen

Our Caretaker from 1972 - 2005

.

The contribution of Mr. Damen to Eastwick over the years was summed up by, amongst others, Mrs. Vickerstaff whose two daughters attended both Eastwick Infant and  Eastwick Junior from 1980 to 1989.  She fondly recalls that apart from doing the various odd jobs around the school and organizing working parties of parents at the weekends Mr. Damen was also always involved in school events and getting dressed up for things. He was Father Christmas at all the Christmas Fayres and was involved in things like  the Summer Fair,  school productions and  The Family Swimming Club.

Mrs. Vickerstaff said "All the children from both schools loved him because he was such good fun.  Mr. Damen was Eastwick School"

The first caretaker was Mr King, seen here with a kettle in hand and dinner helpers in 1958.
He was followed by Mr Wilson (1965), Mr Bowyer (1965) Mr Owen (1971) and Mr Damen (1972)
