From the very start Mr. Taylor had expressed a wish to have a swimming pool at the school and he received the backing of the PTA in this. So whilst workmen were constructing the school  Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Caunter of our first PTA prevailed upon the good nature of the builders and persuaded them to use their earth-moving machines to dig a hole,  to Mr. Kennedy's design, that was the beginning of the swimming pool.

However, as the transformation from a hole in the ground to a swimming pool would require building materials and sundry items  funds had to be raised to purchase them.
