4th Canadian Artillery Regiment |
|
The information in this section was sent to me by Mr. C. Moffet of Quebec. He is the nephew of Capt. Charles-Emile Gagnon (Uncle Charlie) who was an Officer in a Canadian Artillery Regiment that was based in Bookham The Officers were billeted at Southey Hall after the pupils of the school were evacuated following a few near misses by bombs from enemy aircraft. One of which destroyed the lodge that stood by the Lower Road entrance. In his letter to me Mr. Moffet told me of the book 'By the Mouths of our Cannons' by the Canadian Military Historian, Jacques Gouin. The book is history of 'Uncle Charlie's' regiment ( 4th Medium Artillery Regiment) and includes a record of the time they spent at Southey Hall in1942. |
